2. Design Leather Patch

Choose your patch shape, leatherette color and send us your logo or artwork. Within 2-3 business days, we’ll send you a virtual proof of your design on the product.

3. Begin Patch Production

Once your artwork has been approved and your quote has been paid, we’ll begin producing your custom leather patches and attaching them to your garment. Orders typically ship within 7-10 business days. Note: Heat transfer orders typically ship quicker than embroidered or sewn on patches.

Our most popular leather color is Rawhide/Black.

The color of your design laser etched will be the color that you see above in the text “Laserable Leatherette”. The leatherette material is laser etched away revealing the material behind it which you can see above. Pro Tip: The silver & gold colors are harder to get super fine details in a design to look good. We recommend slightly bolder fonts/graphics for these leather colors.

Pricing has several variables:

  1. Size of the leather patch
  2. Quantity of leather patches ordered. Price breaks are 12, 24, 48, 72, 144, 288, 500.
  3. Application method: Heat Press or Sewn/Embroidered On.

We can either heat press or sew your leather patch onto the garment. Some complex shapes need to be heat pressed whereas more simple stock shapes can be embroidered on. We always prefer the look and durability of sewn-on leather patches so that is always our go-to if it is possible.

If you are a wholesale customer, we can send you the leather patches with a heat seal/iron on backing that you can easily heat press on with your own heat press. We recommend the Hotronix® 360 IQ® Hat Heat Press for hats specifically. It makes a world of a difference. We can also ship it with a 3M Peel & Stick Backing on it if you are sewing them on. We recommend a Post-Bed Sewing Machine for hats. The 3M Sticker Backing helps it stay in place while you sew it on.

We are currently testing leather materials, stains, etc. so that we can offer genuine leather patches in-house. Right now, we mainly use a faux leatherette material that is meant to be laser etched. The laserable leatherette captures details really well and is offered in several colors. We do have overseas sourcing options for genuine leather patches starting at 100 pieces. Contact us for more information if you are interested in genuine leather patches.

Yes! The leather patches are made of a water-resistant synthic material. We have had good success with washing our faux leather patches and they have been easy to clean. We have not had any customer complaints to date.  Leather patches typically look better when they age, giving them an even more vintage authentic look.

Yes, we are a preferred SanMar PSST Contract Decorator, S&S Freight Advantage Decorator & AlphaBroder MPACT Decorator. What does this mean? You receive free inbound freight to us on all orders! Please be sure when you request a quote with us to let us know you are a wholesale decorator or promotional product distributor. We are not on a program with Richardson, but we do a lot of contract decorating for Richardson hat customers that need a quicker turn time than Richardson can provide.

The leather patches are produced within 4 business days. Superfast!  Then if you need them either heat pressed or sewn on production times may vary based on current production schedules. The fastest method is typically heat-pressed if you’re in a time crunch. Most heat-pressed orders ship within 7-10 business days from order approval. Embroidered or sewn-on leather patch orders typically take a minimum of 10 business days.

Leather Samples: We can send you an assortment of random samples. Please specify any specific leatherette colors you’re interested in.

Pre-Production Leather Samples: After your order has been confirmed, we can do a sample first to make sure that you are happy with the results before we proceed with the bulk run. This will delay production slightly.

Jerzees Apparel Leather Patch Video

Our custom leather patches have been making quite the buzz around the decorated apparel industry. Jerzees Apparel and apparel decorating expert, Marshall Atkinson, have a YouTube series called, “Adventures in Decorating” where they tour the top screen printing & embroidery shops around the country to feature innovative decorating techniques. They came to Zome Design to see how we make our leather patches and embroider them onto garments.

In this video, we walk through the entire steps of how we take a faux leatherette material, laser etch & cut it, apply a 3m sticker backing, and then embroider the leather patch onto a timeless Jerzees 1/4 Zip Fleece Sweatshirt.

For this series, we decided to take it up a notch and add a felt patch behind the leatherette. This really helps the leatherette patch pop off the sweatshirt and give it more dimension.
